September 15, 2015. FMC Technologies Expands ROV Fleet with BOURBON Offshore

FMC Technologies delivered two of four new HD remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to BOURBON Offshore this month and will deliver the remaining two in the fourth quarter of 2015. Capable of operating at depths of up to 3,000 meters (9,842 ft.) below sea level, 
FMC Technologies’ HD ROVs will be mobilized onto BOURBON’s dedicated fleet of multi-purpose support vessels. READ COMPLETE RELEASE

 C-Innovation UHD-III   September 10, 2015. FMC Technologies Advances C-Innovation's ROV Fleet

FMC Technologies continued delivery of UHD-III remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to C-Innovation this month. Their September delivery is the seventh UHD-III for their fleet, with an eighth vehicle delivering in October 2015. 


C-Innovation has purchased more than 50 FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics ROVs since entering the ROV market in 2007. In addition to the newest two UHD-IIIs, C-Innovation is upgrading all (11) of its first-generation UHD ROVs to increase offshore efficiency, available horsepower, reliability, and automated features for advanced project handling. The upgrades will be done by FMC Technologies, via its Schilling Robotics business unit, over the next 18 months. READ COMPLETE RELEASE

 Grand Canyon II   June 23, 2015. Canyon Offshore Mobilizes New UHD-III ROVs to Grand Canyon II

Canyon Offshore, subsea remote operated vehicle (ROV) operator, has mobilized two new UHD-III ROVs to their Grand Canyon II vessel. These new ROVs will enhance Canyon’s reputation for having the most robust and flexible systems for subsea field work. READ COMPLETE RELEASE

June 2015. C-Innovation is off to work in the Gulf of Mexico. Upstream Magazine.

C-Innovation (C-I) mobilizes six new UHD-III remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), manufactured by FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics for current contracts. The company has a 10-year contract for multi-service support of the BP Thunder Horse platform, where two UHD-III ROVs will be installed. Additional support will be provided by the offshore supply vessel Jack Edwards, which hosts a third UHD-III unit. READ COMPLETE RELEASE


 C-Innovation   April 22, 2015. C-Innovation mobilizes six new UHD-IIIs

C-Innovation (C-I) mobilizes six new UHD-III remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), manufactured by FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics for current contracts. The ROV systems are mobilizing throughout 2015 for work in the Gulf of Mexico. C-I has long been a well-known ROV operator in the subsea industry, but now with the powerful UHD-III vehicles. First awarded is a 10-year contract for multi-service support of the BP Thunder Horse PDQ in the Gulf of Mexico. UHD-III vehicles #09 and #10 will be installed on the Thunder Horse platform, with additional support from the Jack Edwards offshore supply vessel hosting UHD-III vehicle #01.  These vehicles will be equipped with 150-hp ISOL-8 pumps for superior auxiliary tooling power.  Delta SubSea   April 21, 2015. Delta Subsea success story for Enterprise Products Partners

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. jointly owns crude oil gathering pipelines serving the Lucius production area in southern Keathley Canyon in the Gulf of Mexico. They required support on their Seacor Diamond and Seacon Fearless vessels, and chose Delta SubSea Services (DSS) to provide ROV contract support for both vessels. The scope of work for the projects included pigging operation support, installation of GammaTrac units for pig monitoring, and subsea pig launcher installation, and other subsea support work for other vessel operations. Delta utilized the most efficient ROVs on the market, the 150-hp HD ROV, manufactured by FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics. READ COMPLETE STORY

 Bibby's Brandon Bordelon   April 8, 2015. Bibby Subsea Contracts Two New HD ROVs for Brandon Bordelon.

Bibby Subsea, Bibby Offshore’s Houston-based division, has commissioned two HD work-class ROVs (Remote Operated Vehicles) designed by FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics. Capable of operating at depths of up to 3000m. These underwater vehicles will be working in the Gulf of Mexico on Bibby Subsea’s new U.S. Flagged Jones Act compliant vessel, the Brandon Bordelon.  The HD ROVs are scheduled for delivery in the second Quarter of 2015.  Davis HS Tour   March 31, 2015. Schilling supports Davis High Ag Mechanics program. Davis Enterprise newspaper.

Schilling Robotics, a manufacturing company that originated in Davis, has close ties to Davis High School. The company’s founder, Tyler Schilling, is a DHS graduate himself, and a number of Schilling employees also discovered their passion for welding in the DHS metal shop back in the 1970s. Now the company — which makes robotic equipment for use in the deep ocean — is seizing the opportunity to give back to Davis High.

Chris Ade, an employee at Schilling Robotics, has a son, Eric, who’s enrolled this year in the agricultural mechanics program at Davis High under the tutelage of teacher Alex Hess. READ FULL STORY HERE

   January 20, 2015. Bourbon Offshore expands its fleet by three subsea ROVs, continuing its growth in offshore oil & gas subsea services.

FMC Technologies’ Schilling Robotics’ BOURBON has commissioned three next-generation Heavy Duty Work ROVs (Remote Operated Vehicles) designed by FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics. Capable of operating at depths of up to 3000 m, these underwater vehicles will be deployed on Multi-Purpose Support Vessels (MPSV) such as the Bourbon Evolution 800 series. Fitted with high-tech equipment - manipulator arms, dynamic positioning, high definition camera, sonar and software - these HD Work ROVs are highly maneuverable. They can carry up to 3000 Kg of special measurement or intervention tools. They are therefore ideal for activities such as survey, wellhead installation, or asset tie-in.   July 3, 2014. FMC Technologies Receives New HD ROV Order from Delta SubSea.

HOUSTON – July 3, 2014. FMC Technologies has received new orders from Delta SubSea (DSS) for HD59 and HD60 ROVs for delivery in July 2014. Its Schilling Robotics business unit entered into a frame agreement with Delta SubSea for the supply of work-class ROV systems in 2013, to supply a fleet of state-of-the-art ROV systems over the next several years.   May 11, 2014. ROVOP inks New Deal with FMC Technologies.

Subsea specialist ROVOP has announced that it will take delivery of five new remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), representing an investment of £17million (approx. US$28million). The ROVs include two UHD-III’s, which are the most advanced heavy-duty work-class vehicles in the market, as well as three HD work-class systems. All ROVs are being supplied by FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics, based in Davis, California. The first of the HDs is being delivered to ROVOP in Aberdeen, Scotland. READ FULL ARTICLE

C-Innovation has signed a new award to FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics to supply a fleet of six UHD-III Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) systems for its subsea operations business. Specialist Subsea Services (S3) has announced the purchase of two new ROVs from FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics. The acquisitions, worth in excess of US $6.6-million (GBP 4-million), form part of the company’s ambitious global growth plans and bring the total number of work class ROVs within S3’s fleet to six. The two Schilling-HD 150hp systems are both rated to 3,000msw and will provide industry leading performance for high quality pipeline surveys, IRM, drill support, and heavy duty construction operations.   Mar 12, 2014. ROVs Take on BOPs. Offshore Engineer Magazine, March 2014

Rising to the demands being placed on ROV technology, FMC plans to unveil a new generation ROV, the UHD-III, the company told OE during Subsea Expo. The ROV will be revealed at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) this May in Houston. The new UHD-III unit will meet API Standard 53, which concerns the installation and testing of blowout prevention equipment systems (4th edition, December 2012). The ROV will also be able to perform well intervention tasks, FMC says. The company will launch the new ROV in a buoyant market. READ FULL ARTICLE

Dec 4, 2013. $30 Million ROV Contract Award from Tidewater Subsea.

FMC Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: FTI) announced today that it has received an order from Tidewater Subsea (Tidewater) to supply a fleet of six work-class ROV systems for its subsea operations business. The ROV systems will be supplied by FMC Technologies' Schilling Robotics business unit and are expected to be delivered before the end of 2013.   Jun 26, 2013. ROVs now entering the 'productivity era' of their history. Offshore Magazine, June 2013.

In historical terms, the ROV industry is still quite young. The commercial aviation and automobile industries, in comparison, have been around at least three times as long. Consequently the aviation industry, for example, speaks in much more sophisticated terms when discussing productivity. For instance, fuel consumption per passenger mile has improved more than 60% in the time since the ROV industry began. READ FULL STORY

Apr 18, 2013. Tyler Schilling Appoints New General Manager in Order to Focus on Customer Productivity.

My vision for the Schilling Robotics business unit of FMC Technologies includes an accelerated focus on increasing our customers’ productivity in regard to deepwater ROV operations. As I have worked with my executive team to define the strategic path for achieving this vision, it became clear to me that I wanted to invest my time in leading our core product development. The pursuit of creating products that help make our customers successful continues to be a personal passion, and I have never been more excited about the advancements that our latest developments will offer.

In order to pursue this focus, I have asked Paul Whalen to assume the day to day execution responsibilities for Schilling Robotics. Paul has led our Operations group for nearly five years, and his leadership has resulted in tremendous advancements in the quality, reliability, and efficiency of our products. Paul’s new title is vice president and general manager, and I will remain as president of FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics. Hamish Stewart, Sr. Sales Manager

Apr 3, 2013. Schilling Robotics Welcomes Hamish Stewart as Sr. Sales Manager, Eastern Hemisphere

Hamish joins us from the FMC Technologies Subsea division, and will now be responsible for managing client relationships and ROV product sales throughout the Eastern Hemisphere.

Stewart brings to the company over 25 years of experience in the subsea sector. His career began in shipbuilding as a mechanical engineer, and then moved into the oil and gas sector. Most recently he was responsible for sales in FMC Technologies’ Subsea division. His background includes offshore roles with subsea light well intervention, drilling/completions, diving and ROV work scopes. As a sales and account manager, Stewart’s roles encompassed business development, project management and market analysis for companies such as Schlumberger and ODS-Petrodata.

Stewart earned his Master’s degree in business management from the Robert Gordon University of Aberdeen and he is an active member of the Chartered Institute of Management.

Mar 20, 2013.  Swire Seabed HD ROV Supports Recovery of Apollo 11 Engines

Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos made it his mission, in 2012, to find and resurrect the F-1 engines. Now, after three weeks at sea, Bezos is making his way to Cape Canaveral with the priceless engines safely in tow. "We’ve seen an underwater wonderland — an incredible sculpture garden of twisted F-1 engines that tells the story of a fiery and violent end, one that serves testament to the Apollo program," he wrote in a personal blog post. The exploration team used Remotely Operated Vehicles to find the engines, which sat on the ocean floor, more than 14,000 feet below sea level. Bezos described the experience as "otherworldly," noting the engines' burial site was eerily similar to space: a feeling of microgravity and a seemingly endless black horizon. READ MORE



  Mar 14, 2013. Chris Legg Promoted to Regional Manager, Asia-Pacific


Chris Legg joined Schilling Robotics in 2007 as a program manager, and has been a key contributor to managing ROV contracts, deliveries, and making customer ROV orders transpire smoothly. Chris has relocated to Singapore and assumed responsibility for the Schilling Robotics customer support center there in January.

Legg has over 25 years of experience in subsea technology and ROV intervention leadership. Before joining Schilling, he served as project manager for Canyon Offshore, Inc., Saipem/Sonsub, Inc., and Woodside Petroleum. During his time at these companies, he was responsible for directing complex offshore production and construction projects for a wide range of oil and gas producers, offshore construction companies, and subsea engineering groups. He is skilled at collaborating with engineers, technicians, and ROV pilots during operational phases and utilized ROVs operating from vessels, oil platforms, and drilling rigs in waters up to 10,000 feet deep.

Apr 25, 2012. FMC Technologies Completes Acquisition of Schilling Robotics

FMC Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: FTI) announced today that it has completed the transaction to acquire the remaining 55% of the outstanding shares of Schilling Robotics LLC ("Schilling") FMC had previously announced on January 3, 2012, its intention to purchase the remaining outstanding shares of Schilling and increase its ownership to 100 percent.

Feb 14, 2012. ​Subsea 7 Adds Additional HD Systems to Fleet

Schilling Robotics, LLC, experts in subsea systems, announced today the delivery of two (2) 150hp, 3,000m-rated HD™ ROV systems to Subsea 7. The HD™ ROV offers comprehensive work-class ROV performance in a compact configuration, while providing extensive onboard space for tooling systems. “We are very pleased that Subsea 7 has selected to continue to implement the HD™ ROV in their projects,” says Tyler Schilling, chief executive officer for Schilling Robotics. “The HD is fully compliant with the most demanding offshore energy industry requirements.”

Feb 10, 2012. Schilling Appoints George Shirreffs to VP Customer Service

Schilling Robotics, LLC, experts in subsea systems, announced today that it has appointed George Shirreffs as vice president of customer service. Shirreffs will drive the development and execution of Schilling’s customer support strategy and implementation. Shirreffs has a 12 year history of progressing responsibility with Schilling, most recently as the managing director of Schilling Robotics, Ltd. in Aberdeen, Scotland. “We have implemented a world-class support function that is second to none, and will continue to improve above our customers’ expectations,” says Shirreffs.

Jan 31, 2012. ​Seabed Adds Schilling HD ROVs

Schilling Robotics, LLC, experts in subsea systems, announced today the delivery of a new HD™ ROV system to underwater technology firm Seabed. The order was for HD 23, which is a 150hp, 4,000m-rated ROV system and was delivered in December 2011. “We are very proud to have added Seabed AS to our expanding customer portfolio. They are a discerning and innovative company, and we are delighted that they have chosen to expand their fleet with our products,” says Tyler Schilling, chief executive officer for Schilling Robotics. The HD is a work-class ROV system that provides flexibility for construction, intervention, and IMR applications. Increased reliability and availability is inherent due to the integrated design philosophy for all major sub-systems. This drives a significant reduction in components, enables modular maintenance, and significantly reduces major component replacement timeframes.
